Tasting Notes
The 2023 Reserve is made exclusively from our oldest planting at Ivybrook.
This delicious wine displays regional Satsuma plum, earth and spice with violet overtones and mineral complexity.
Opulent dark fruit on the palate is followed by velvety tannins and a long savoury finish.
2023 was a cracking vintage in McLaren Vale. A long, cool ripening period and no heatwaves meant that we had plenty of opportunity to ripen the Shiraz perfectly.

The grapes from our vineyard are all handpicked in the early morning and fermented in 1 tonne fermenters where they are hand plunged 2-3 times daily. No yeast is added so it undergoes a “wild ferment”, maceration on skins occuring for 7-10 days.The wine is then pressed off the skins, using a basket press, into 1,2 and 3 year old French oak barrels to age for 18 months prior to bottling. Minimal fining and filtration are used.

100% Single Vineyard Shiraz. Grown on our Shiraz vineyard established in 1997 on limestone over clay soils, this soil profile gives us ideal conditions for growing premium fruit. Combined with minimal irrigation requirements it results in small bunches being produced and therefore greater concentration of flavours. The block is located approximately three kilometres inland from the sea and situated west of McLaren Vale.
